Help with Serial number identification

I have what i believe to be a late 70’s HG430. Serial number is 73232.

Does your service department have records? If so can you tell me the country and year of origin.

Thank You

It’s Japanese made, from the 1970s as you say. The meaning of the serial number is unclear because I don’t think there are any records remaining from that period.

According to the list I have, this model was built in Japan in 1977 in a number of variants: LP, LP-S, LP-T, LP-N. Phil is presumably right about the serial number. Here the available specs:

Mahogany body, neck and headpiece, fully bound. Bolt on neck. Rosewood fingerboard, perloid markers. Tune-o-matic style bridge. Stop tail piece. Gold plated hardware. Scale 24 3/4". Deluxe humbuckers with adjustable posts. Individual volume and tone controls for each pick up. Ebony black, tobacco sunburst, cherry sunburst, natural grain maple; made in Japan by Hohner UK

Just so you know, on Hohners, the first two numbers of the serial number are the year so your bass was made in 1973.

This is sometimes correct but isn’t always the case. According to the list I got from Hohner, this model was only manufactured in 1977. Of course, they could be mistaken…

That only reliably works on 7 digit numbers on Korean models from about 1985 to 1991.
