What year was the star taken off. I have a number of Harmonicas that have the star on them.
There are conflicting opinions on this subject. Conventional wisdom says the star between the hands was removed as a Jewish symbol during the nazi era, i.e. mid-1930s, but other sources claim it was removed after the 1973 Arab - Israeli war in the 1970s in response to objections by Arab customers. As far as I know there is no verified or documentary information on this point.
