Amatona IV Deluxe

I recently bought an Amatona IV in C/C# tuning (I’m an Irish traditional musician). Any idea what decade it’s from? I’ve heard some people say 50s.

The Accordion Service dept. says this model was produced by Hohner’s Swiss subsidiary from the 1950s - 1970s, specifically for the Swiss market. Unfortunately that means they have no written records for these instruments, so can’t be more specific. Hope that helps!

Thanks very much Steve

I have the exact same model as melodeonman’s, only in B/C tuning, and there is indeed a “Made in Switzerland” sticker on the back of it. But they weren’t made for the Swiss market (they’d be C/F, or Bb/Eb Club Models if they were) but rather for sale in Britain (where their semitone-tuning “British Chromatic” system was invented, and used to be the dominant system until D/G took-over in England, and piano accordions in Scotland) and in Ireland (where they are still the dominant system).

I have Hohner catalogues from 1964 and 1969 that are illustrated with that exact-same lettering on them - it was different before then, and afterwards.
