Curious "The 'Chromica' (Chromatic Harmonica)" harmonica

It could be fake, I’m not sure how prevalent fakes are. Assuming its real, it seems to be post-1970s since it doesn’t have a star, and I’ve read more exact dating is hard due to the lack of serial numbers. I found an odd “9” behind the part you put your mouth against when taking it apart to see its condition (which it’s condition is very poor imo), and I wonder if the exact order or dates of the listed grand prix can give a more precise date.

It lists “GENEVL 1927” (Geneva?), “PHILAD.1926”, “PARIS 1937”, “CHIC 1893”, in that order. Was there even a grand prix in 1893? I found nothing online about a 1927 Grand Prix in Geneva. Is this a fake Hohner? Or just odd?

I’d attach images of front and bottom instead of just bottom, but I couldn’t. The front just has it’s title “THE ‘CHROMONICA’ (CHROMATIC HARMONICA)”, and a “MADE BY M. HOHNER GERMANY”.

Hi Ian

Nobody fakes old harmonicas, why bother? That definitely looks like a standard Hohner 10 hole chromatic, though I’m puzzled by your photo as it doesn’t show the channel openings. The medals depicted on the lower cover are standard and found on harmonicas of many different types from different time periods. You can only upload one photo the first time you post, but it’s no problem to post more thereafter.
