Hello!
I recently purchased a vintage/antique Koch Chromatic harmonica in C. It is going to be a Christmas present and I would love to attempt to determine it’s age. It is in remarkable condition for something I found at Goodwill and I was in luck that it came with the box (and original paper?) as well. It is missing a nut or whatever it is called for the screw on the right side of the photo. It sounds beautiful. I could only upload one picture being that I am a new user. Thank you in advance for any help aging this piece.
Also, where might I find that missing piece?
Louise
I have one like that as well and am wondering when it was manufactured.
It’s difficult to date harmonicas accurately as they are not individually numbered. The Koch Harmonica was still being manufactured in the 1990s, but from the appearance of the box this could be considerably older. Hohner Service doesn’t appear to list list the nut under spare parts for comparable instruments, but the ones used on the Special 20 should fit:
Hope that helps
Steve
Thank you Steve, I will reach out to the shop!
