HAB-40N serial number help

I bought a used HAB-40N acoustic bass. The serial number is: 000103222. Can you please tell me anything you can about it?

One of the tuning pegs broke. The squared piece the fits into gear broke off and peg spins free. I’m curious what brand and model/name tuners it came with.

Thank you.

This model was produced from the mid-1990s until the end of the decade, but Hohner Service couldn’t find any record of the serial number you mention. The new price in 1998 was DM885.

Here the available specs:
spruce top; ashwood back and sides; mahogany neck; rosewood fingerboard; 817mm scale; 22 frets; die-cast chrome machine heads; electro-acoustic; cutaway; Piezo pickup; 4-band EQ “B780”; colour: satin natural

They didn’t have any info on which brand of machine heads were used, sorry.

Hope that’s a help
Steve

Thanks! If it makes a difference, I added an extra 0 to the serial number by mistake. It is actually 00103222.

I ordered a set of mid-price Guyker tuners. The branding on the EQ is Shadow P4. I couldn’t find any connection between that and B780. If may have been swapped.

Your help is much appreciated.

I’ve passed on the correct serial number, should hear back on Monday.

They say that with these acoustic guitar, the serial number doesn’t indicate the manufacturing date, so they can’t be more specific.

Okay. Thanks. I appreciate your efforts.

Shadow pickups were commonly used on Hohner electro-acoustics so it may just have been a change during the production run from a generic piezo pickup and the Hohner 4 band EQ to a fully branded Shadow set. In the 1995 catalogue, this model is listed as an EAB40 although I’ve never seen one marked as anything other than HAB40.
