Hohner B2A Specs

Hi - I received a B2A bass from a friend. Serial# is 00063148. I was hoping to get the date made & other specs. Many thanks

Hi Pat
They say your bass was presumably built in Korea, but don’t recognize the serial number you gave. Is there another number anywhere on the instrument? Here the specs the Service Dept. came up with:

Headless bass
Body: Californian solid maple
Through neck: Californian maple with ebonol fingerboard
Fretless
2 Select pickups, designed by EMG
Bass humbucker
Active tone control, on/off
Vol/vol/tone: treble/bass
Black hardware, Steinberger
Fine-Tuning-Bridge

Thanks for your reply! I’m not seeing any other number on the guitar. The one I do see is stamped on the underside where the lap rest is. It is fretted, not fretless. But, everything else matches up.

That’s where you’d expect to find the serial number. According to the list I have, the B2A Bass was manufactured from the mid 1980s until at least 1993. I first saw this model in 1985. The reason why they said it’s fretless may be because the list they have specifically refers to a B2A FL. Strangely I couldn’t find the regular B2A in the listing, but it may be incomplete.
