Does anybody out there have any information about this guitar. I have run into many dead ends. It is a Limited special Edition I HG 220… Made in Japan… Does the fact that there is little to no info out there make it more valuable?
In order to access any available information about your guitar, you’ll need to tell us the serial no.
Thanks, forgot to include it.
Hohner HG220 Limited Special Edition Serial no. 160 099
You’re calling it a “Limited Special Edition 1” which is not a term I’m familiar with. There were however guitars branded “Limited Edition Series 1”. Is it one of those?
Sorry, the Service Dept. couldn’t find any specs under that description. The HG series was manufactured in Japan between 1978 and 1985.
If this is what I think it is (awaiting confirmation from pizzaman) then this is one of a weird series that seems to predate the main run of Japanese guitars. Four models have surfaced - HG-210, HG-220, HG-230, HG-240. My best guess is they were made around 1974-1975 but they could be earlier.
The HG model numbers go much further back than that, at least to the late 1960s when Hohner guitars were usually branded Contessa.Steve Vai’s first acoustic guitar was a Contessa HG-200 - Vai.com - The Official Steve Vai Website.
