Hello Steve. Please help me figure out the bass guitar number. Hohner Professional PJ Bass 8825254. Where was it made and when? Thank you!
Hey Mr Long Number
Your bass was manufactured in 1988 in Korea. Here the available specs:
21 nickel silver frets; bolt on one-piece Canadian rock maple neck / Indian rosewood fingerboard; colour: black (RN), white (MN), metallic red; Korean strings; 2 HP single coil BS-5 + BS-6 (PJ-style); vol/vol/tone; chrome hardware; graphite nut
Retail price was 475,00 DM in 1990
Hope that helps!
Steve, thank you so much!!!
Steve, if I have any questions about Hochner, can I contact you again? Regards !!!
Sure, no problem. In the first instance I’m a harmonica player, so that’s my main area of expertise.
Unfortunately, there is no number!
The Hohner brand name doesn’t seem to appear anywhere on this guitar. What leads you to think it may be a Hohner instrument?
Leyanda was a brand that Hohner used at various points. The oldest guitars I’ve seen it on were Spanish-made classical guitars. But it was later used (as here) as a freestanding name on Asian copies and then as a sub-brand of acoustic guitars (lots of Hohner Leyanda models from the 1980s). From where they turn up, I suspect it was mainly used in Germany and mainland Europe but, as with many things Hohner, there’s not much contemporary evidence to prove or disprove that.
In this case, I think I’d assume Korean rather than Japanese. What does the sticker on the neckplate say? Is it original or just a shop sticker?
Thanks Steve. I got you!
Thanks! The information is useful!
