Identify a guitar

I read that label as G220TB and hence a model number - a G220 in Transparent Black. I’ve never heard of a G220 electric, but it is a plausible model number. Any feel for how old it is?

Thats a pretty good qiestion, it doesnt have a lot of wear on it or anything. Style wise, I could see it being maybe 70s or 80s possibly?

Somebody told him the placement lf the strap attachment piece (please forgive my lack of knowledge) meant that it was older because usually on the body of the gutiar itself and not on the neck like this one.

The knobs are where im getting 70s-80s from.

I ran across another one in the hands of a Hohner collector. He doesn’t have much more information on it though. I think it’s Japanese, early 1980s - there are some specific reasons but mostly it just gives off that vibe. The shape reminds me a lot of an Aria PE series, which were being made at the Matsumoku factory at the time, although the construction is very different. The early 1980s were a transitional time for Hohner (ending with them going all in on Korean production with the Hohner Professional range around 1984) so they were probably trying ideas out and this was one of them.

Awesome, thank you so much for your help! I would imagine not much but any idea on value?

It’s a guitar that’s really interesting to a tiny number of people. On a really good day it might make $500 but probably more likely around $300, similar for pounds and euros.

A pivotal time in the development of Hohner guitars was in 1984/85, when the company engaged vintage guitar dealer No.1 in Hamburg to design their new product range. No.1 facilitated the change to Korean production and organised the deal with Ned Steinberger to license his revolutionary hardware as well as introducing a large range of high quality mid-price guitars, which are still traded today. Smart move.

Hi, could someone help to provide the age and any other information for my L75 Les Paul copy, serial no: C103060.

Thanks
Neil

I’ll check it out and post here

That’s amazing information, thanks very much Steve, I really appreciate that :grinning: I’m finding it hard to purchase caps/toppers for the toggle switch, the ones I’ve bought are too big. I seem to need 3mm which are hard to find. Would you have any ideas.

Thanks again.
Neil

You’re welcome. Sorry, but I can’t help with the parts you seek. The only guitars for which Hohner still lists spare parts are the headless models.
