I’ve inherited this lovely bass. Its got a “made in Japan “stamp and the serial number is 861842. Im guessing that 86 is NOT the year, maybe a little earlier than that?
Any idea of the model name, year etc? Its a nice guitar.
It’s from the beginning of the 1980s and in the UK at least it was known as the MB010S (for sunburst). It looks like it’s been in the case for forty years. The top picture is from the 1980 Bell catalogue and the review is from Sounds in September 1981.

My Dad bought it a few months before he passed away and I dont know anything of its history. Its immaculate and you may be right, I suspect its barely been used in 40 years!
