Looking for date of Hohner G599N on tag. 103101 inside on neck. Hand written Serial #5401 sticker inside. Acoustic guitar. And any other info that might be available. Thanks in advance.
The model was introduced as the HG-599 around 1979 - it’s in the 1979 price list at $129.50. Then it became the G599 and finally the HGK599. The latter two designations were probably to distinguish Korean guitars from Japanese ones although it’s not clear if the 599 (or indeed any of the 500 guitars) were ever made in Japan. The N suffix just indicates natural finish on a guitar where there was an option - there was a tobacco sunburst version of the 599 with a TS suffix.
That’s a lot of detail to say, probably early 80s - 1980 - 1982.
The serial number and neck block number aren’t much help unless you can find a similarly numbered guitar which also has a date stamp or some other way of being dated.
