I’ve had a black G3T for a little over 30 years and it plays beautifully still. I was preparing for a move and decided to inventory my guitars, photographing and recording make, model, serial number, etc.
So far, I’ve been unable to find a serial number on this guitar. I’ve looked underneath the leg rest, and there are no markings. I’ve removed the electronics cover on the back, and can’t see one there, either (I didn’t move the wires around, tbh, in the spirit of “it all works, so leave well enough alone”.
Anyone have any ideas about where the serial number could be located?

I’ll ask Hohner Service & get back to you. Previous posts on this topic say the serial number on this model is located under the leg rest, but maybe there were exceptions to this. Glad the guitar is still going strong, it’s a great design.

Thanks, Steve. I look forward to hearing what they have to say. I can send more photos of the guitar if that helps.

@StanleyFord did you ever get an answer? I also have a 3GT with no apparent serial number- nothing under the leg rest, nothing in the wiring cavity. I got it used about 5 years ago at a yard sale. I’d love to know where and when the guitar was made if this can be determined- any information will be appreciated!

Hohner Service says the 3GT was first built from 1988 - 1994, then reissued for about another 10 years from 2003 onwards. Here the available specs, though I’m not sure why they say it’s left-handed, the photo doesn’t look as if it is:
left-handed; body: Californian solid maple through neck: Californian maple with Indian rosewood fingerboard; 24 nickel silver frets; colour: black; 3 Select designed by EMG; 2 single coil size, 1 humbucker size; vol/tone; 3 mini switches: on/off; push/pull for Vintage-Blend-Sound; black hardware, Steinberger; fine-tuning-bridge; tremolo with trem-lock
Cheers
Steve
