Questions about Hohner B2A

Hello! I recently bought a bass guitar.
The serial number is 8600***. This is a guitar from the first 1000 made in 1986, right?
I want to check if everything is ok with the electronics. Is there electronics documentation and a wiring diagram for all elements?
Could it be that this guitar uses 2 9 volt batteries? There is something like a metal plug and a battery installed here.

The first 2 digits of the serial often indicate the year of manufacture, so you could well be correct there. I don’t think there will be wiring diagrams available for instruments of this age. Your photo appears to show a battery compartment, but the contents look pretty corroded. Maybe someone else on the forum knows more?

The “metal plug” is the preamplifier. You see the potentiometer to adjust its level with a screwdriver. It is fragile, don’t be harsh. Tip : always replace the battery with the preamp on off and your guitar cable disconnected, so you don’t risk to create a surge in the preamp when you install the new battery
