Hello
Trying to find info about the serial number on my Black Dot B/C. Written very faint in lite pencil. Not sure if it is 23 11 or Z3 11 or LL. Thanks much.
Hi Malko,
sorry to have overlooked your inquiry. I’m not an expert on accordion, but in my opinion this is highly unlikely to be a serial number. These are never written in pencil on the instrument. It seems more probable to me that these will be notes from the production process. I’ve asked Hohner Accordion product management, but they are out of the office until Monday,
cheers
Steve
Hi Malko,
I checked with Accordion Service. They say the markings you mention are definitely notes made during the production process. Prior to 2012 these models did not have serial numbers, so if yours doesn’t then it’s pre-2012.
Sorry not to have more information for you!
Steve

Hi Malko,
Black Dots were first made to order for the Scottish accordion dealers J. T. Forbes of Dundee in 1934, and went through a number of model changes since then.
If you could post a photo I should be able to give you an approximate date.
