Hi All,
Is anyone able to help me identify my guitar.
I believe its a Contessa (it says so on the pick gurad)
The plate on the back reads HG110 6704.
Its a hollow bodies acoustic electric. It has been repaired but wow, what a sweet sound it makes.
Thanks in advance.
It is a Contessa, which is how Hohner US badged a lot of their guitars from the mid 60s to the mid 70s. The single pickup Standard version was the HG-11 and that goes back to at least 1969. Yours is the Deluxe two pickup version, which might be slightly later - say 1970 or 1971. They were made in Europe, which probably means Italy - a hotbed of instrument making at the time. Some of the earlier Contessa electric guitars were made at the Zerosette factory and some of the Contessa acoustics were made by Eko. Not sure about these though.
Wow. Thank you very much for that information. I did make an attempt to find more about the guitar myself but found very little, if anything I really appreciate the time you took respond and share your knowledge. Many thanks again.
Great, thanks for sharing Phil!
This model was made from 1991 onwards, below are the available specs. I can ask Service where the serial no. is likely to be located, but it’s possible this is a pre-production model without a number.

fingerboard; 24 nickel silver frets;
863mm scale; machine heads: die-cast, closed, black; 2 J-style humbucker, designed by EMG;

1 mini switch, on/off;

Cosmo black nickel hardware;

Steve, I think that’s the answer to a different question.
I fear you’re right, it can be hard to distinguish the different threads. Just ignore.
